Superman Never Saved Any Black People| Soul of a Nation |Tate |response

Superman never saved any black people

The American hero in red and blue

If your skin’s a darker shade, no he won’t save you

We need America’s finest to thrive and survive

Keep America’s whitest staying alive

So if your house is on fire, if aliens attack, if there’s a global meltdown and there’s no way back

Superman, American hero. Kryptonite fearing fool

Strength of a thousand men!

Still won’t be saving you

Superman never saved any black people

Those of a darker hue must save themselves

Make capes from the chains and soar above clouds

And that goes for every superhero I’ve seen on TV

I don’t think they’d ever save a person like me

So I walk through the gallery with a knot in my throat

They say they’ve put a lens over the past

But all I see is WELCOME TO THE NOW

Made out of white hoods and American flags

With star spangled superman holding the ranks
